Education that shapes Ukraine's hydrogen future

The educational and professional program “Sustainable equipment for biofuel and hydrogen technologies” has been nominated for the 100 gREen AWARD-2025 - a national distinction recognizing the best green transformation projects in Ukraine.
The award ceremony took place on 17 April at the International Institute of Management, bringing together 18 projects that are making a real impact on the development of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and national resilience.
The program is implemented by Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in partnership with Hydrogen Ukraine, the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council, the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, and other market stakeholders.
This is not just an academic program - it is an ecosystem that combines fundamental engineering education, scientific research, and practical technological solutions tailored to real market needs.
Why is this important?
Today in Ukraine, systematic training of specialists in hydrogen and biofuel technologies is still emerging. Initiatives like this lay the foundation for the development of the hydrogen economy, the scaling of renewable energy, and the achievement of energy independence.
The energy transition is impossible without three key components: research and development (R&D), workforce training, and technology commercialization. This program is a rare example where all three elements are effectively integrated.
On 18 April, during the Open Day at Igor Sikorsky KPI, the program was presented to prospective students as a real opportunity to contribute to shaping Ukraine’s new energy system starting today.
Participants not only explored the program’s content but also gained a clearer understanding of the career opportunities offered by the hydrogen and biofuel technology sector.
