The President of the Energy Association "Ukrainian Hydrogen Council", Oleksandr Riepkin, took part in a meeting of experts on the development of ports and port operations of the Danube Commission
Yesterday, Oleksandr Riepkin participated in the third Expert Meeting on Development of Ports and Port Operations (EM PORTS) of the Danube Commission. Oleksandr shared the main results of active work on the development of hydrogen energy in Ukraine and the promotion of cooperation with the EU.
During the meeting, Oleksandr Riepkin reported that two hydrogen valleys in Ukraine have already been identified on the EU maps, one of which is located in the Danube region, and that active work is being done to implement the project. This year, funding is expected for various studies to prepare for the implementation of the project.
The President of the Energy Association emphasized at the meeting the inclusion of Ukraine in the map of TEN-T corridors and plans to build hydrogen refueling stations.
The Danube is one of the main routes for transportation and energy transition, so Ukraine is preparing for the fact that the Hydrogen Valley project in the Odesa region will be able to start functioning the next day after Ukraine's victory, said Oleksandr Riepkin.
European partners believe that transporting hydrogen via the Danube is of strategic importance for Ukraine, and the LOHC technology offers the best balance of economic efficiency and ease of use.
Evaluation criteria such as technological maturity, safety, and readiness for rapid approval are taken into account - these are the best components for the rapid implementation of the project in reality.
