The Ministry of Energy agreed to hold a meeting with the management of the Italian gas transmission company Snam SpA on June 10 to discuss possible cooperation in the context of plans to redesign the Ukrainian GTS for hydrogen.
"The meeting will take place within the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Luigi Di Maio to Ukraine. The Italian delegation will include representatives of the Italian energy operator Snam, and we will hold a separate meeting with management of the Ministry of Energy, “National Joint Stock Company “Naftogaz of Ukraine”" and LLC "Gas TSO of Ukraine" to discuss possible cooperation for redesign the Ukrainian GTS for hydrogen", said Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Yaroslav Demchenkov in the commentary to the Green Deal portal.
According to Mr. Demchenkov, in conformity with the results of the negotiations the Ministry of Energy hopes that Snam will agree to enter into one of the pilot projects to modernize the GTS for hydrogen and offer appropriate investments.
Snam is one of the world's leading energy operators. The company manages a large gas transmission network (about 41 thousand km) and storage facilities with a total capacity of about 20 billion cubic meters.
70% of Snam pipelines are ready to transport hydrogen and are partially used for this, according to the company's website.
